1953 Franklin
I just bought a small bag of junk silver from one of my customers, fair deal weight and face value wise. But in going through the coins I found a 53 Franklin in brilliant condition, looks to be close to a BU 67 (laymans guesstimat). Of course I scoured the net to find out more information but now I'm as stumped or more than when I started.
Here's the deal...it seems to be a proof cameo except the entire face is shiny and mirrored, not any discernable contrast. In the bag also was a 53 quarter and dime, also of proof quality but they have the frosted busts. It has the full lines on the bell and not one blemish on it. Any input? Thanks |

Nice find. Is there scratches? Has it got luster? Post a pic...

Re: 1953 Franklin
Absolutely NO scratches! It's just shiny as hell all over, not just in the flat where it's supposed to be mirrored. No cam either.

Holy mother...Ken, there's one there for $3,800 bux and mine looks as good as it does. The others there don't hold a candle to it.

Re: 1953 Franklin
Make sure it hasnt been dremel polished. I got one like that once, but I knew it was polished and paid junk price for it.

Re: 1953 Franklin
I'm 99.9% sure it's not dremel polished. I've used dremels extensively in my hobbies and there's always slight skid marks, even with a buffing bit and paste.
I'll have a pic here directly, one of the customers will help me out. |
